Monday, May 16, 2011 ■ THE LONDON FREE PRESS – Brandon Laan is chasing the dream of representing Canada and London at the 2012 Olympic Games, but in the meantime he has founded his own business targeted at avid runners like himself.

Runners Feed Ltd. was established in February and operates free running clinics and a website and is organizing an upcoming road race.

The website provides runners with articles, reviews, race coverage, blogs, instructional videos, playlists, nutritional information and coaching services.

Laan was born and raised in London and graduated from the University of Western Ontario, where he captained both the cross-country and track and field teams.

He went to Hawaii Pacific University on a running scholarship in 2006 and earned a graduate degree in communication.

He returned to London in 2010 to begin coaching cross-country at Western and won the GoodLife Toronto Marathon last year.

Laan is organizing the Runners Feed 10K on Aug. 21. The race will raise funds for the Sunshine Foundation.

May 16, 2011

Dayna Pidhoresky, the winner of Around the Bay is set to race in London, Ontario, Canada on August 21st, 2011. Pidhoresky is the first of elites to sign up for the Rock the Road 10K. She will undoubtedly be vying for a shot at the first place prize of $1,000. Pidhoresky of Tecumseh, Ontario has sprung to the top of the Canadian road race rankings by posting a time of 1:13:15 at the 2010 Detroit Free Press International Half Marathon. We look forward to welcoming Dayna Pidhoresky to London.

“This race is a great addition to the Southwestern Ontario road race schedule. Sometimes it is difficult to track down 10K races that have prize money. It’s nice when that can draw in some competition which often yields fast times and personal bests.” – Dayna Pidhoresky

Rock the Road 10K is a 10-kilometer running road race that will start and finish at Masonville Place in London, Ontario. There will be live bands and cheerleaders along this flat and fast course, which was designed to give runners a personal best time. Our Mission
is to provide a quality road race for all ages and abilities that will generate funds to be given to The Sunshine Foundation.  Our Vision
is to create an annual event that serves as a substantial fundraiser for The Sunshine Foundation while fostering an enthusiasm for the sport of running.  The start/finish line as well as the course will resemble a festival type atmosphere with bands, cheerleaders, refreshments, massage, yoga, etc.
